The Band Before

We have gone through some major changes, and have had some reconstruction over the 50+ years. Looking back, the first band to call themselves The Marching Lumberjacks  could not be compared to what the band currently has become. The first band memers had the messsage of inclusivity, and that has not changed denotatively but is has changed in connotation; for not only the band but also for our culture as a whole. The band has always been true to its time, it has morphed and grown as a whole through the boundless notion of time as a continuum, it will also continue to do so.

Banda's stuck in a cartoon drawing.

We, as a student-led organization, have always believed that if you were too ...eccentric for other clubs and organizations, this was a space where you could be the sillest version of yourself. This space was a created for people, with an intrest in music, to come together. Whether or not music was a hobby or a passion to the individual, this space was built to become a silly family. Because over time the band as a collective has become more than a club, it's become some of the best times and memories to each band alumni who ever wore the yellow shirt with lucky over their chest.

Lumberjack Days

The people who created the MLJ's did not want a structured militaristic styled marching band. They also didn't want to be known as a mere "pep" band. So we became a scatter scatter band, and we are still one of the only student-led scatter bands in the whole known universe. A scatter band is a a group of individuals who play intruments (or not) in a militeristic style (or not); which consists of marching in a 8-to-5 [def: 8 steps for every 5 yards] (perferably not). Which is why we became so World Famous with our unique style!

This exhibit is meant to show you some of the bands most monumental moments in MLJ history (if I did my job right). I hope you enjoy!
